Well folks, it's happening!

This morning, Ernie walked about 5.5 feet across the rug to the chair. He still hasn't gotten up on his own and taken off yet, but you know what they say about babysteps and all that. Plus, he was confident enough to slowly take the 12-15 steps from point D(ad) to point C(hair), so I'll count it since it was more than just a controlled fall. I got some of this on video, but it's on the camcorder, not our point and shoot, so it'll take us a while to figure out how to load it.
In other news: Ernie learns the word "hot":
Fortunately, this word is not really associated with it's true meaning yet, but he sure likes saying it. He was about to touch a heat register in our dining room (which of course is not even remotely warm this time of year), and mom wanted to start getting him acquainted with the warning "No, that's hot." Not sure if it sunk in or not, but he didn't touch it and he kept repeating it all morning long.

Memorial Weekend

Ernie was taking his morning nap with the Grandparent's Hall when we visited Joseph's grave, but he was awake for his other namesake's decorating. Grandpa Darrell helped him carry the American flag to be placed on his great-grandpa Ernest's stone.

Another Cavanaugh Wedding!

This is Ernie's second Cavanaugh Wedding, this time for John Jr. He was held by nearly every Cavanaugh present either at the wedding or the cocktail reception. And Colleen got to experience early what happens when you hold a baby and announce your own happy pregnancy to his now-squealing-with-joy parents (what happens = Ernie cries). BTW, Colleen and Darin are PREGNANT!!!!!!

Here's some great pics we got of Ern and Machaela at the reception. Mach was looking fierce, as always.

Buh-hee, or, Bunny

Ernie perfected a few new words over the weekend ("hi" is now iterate and properly used) and the cutest one is "bunny." He had a couple meaningful encounters with bunnies that may have led to this: at Grandma and Grandpa Halls, he saw a bunny up close outside their big windows munching and we talked about him a lot. At Grandma and Grandpa Mohrs the next day he played and kissed on his plush bunny they got him for Easter.
We got a brief video with our camera, and a longer better one with our real camera (that one day, we promise, we will learn to upload online from). You can sorta make out he is repeating "buh-hee" over and over as he looks at The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

Laura's Home!

Yay! Aunt Laura is home for the summer! We can't wait for her to teach us to swim! Here she is reading Ernie the book she got him for his birthday, Little Pea. Ern missed her so much.

Ernie will cut you

Ernie was feeling sick recently and had a rash. After taking pictures of the not-so-cute rash, I thought I'd take some pretty pictures of the tired and sick Ernie. He looks very menacing when he's sick, appparently.

What makes Grandmas go crazy?

Butt mugs. That is, insulated coffee mugs with this picture on them: Makes Grandmas do this:

Ernie now a source of fun (along with fear) for Ally Cat

Many of you know that our cat, Ally's, favorite toy is a white plastic hanger. Turns out she likes the baby-sized ones as much as the adult-sized. And she will play with Ernie:
