For almost nine consecutive days, Ernie resisted a nap. His body was not so happy with this decision, and his temper payed the price. Team Parents wasn't sure whether we should throw up our hands and say he's outgrown the nap, or go back to our sleep training guide. Eventually, we chose the latter for Ernie's own good. Daddy practiced a half hour of "silent return to sleep" where everytime Ernie got down from his bed to play Jeremy came in, brought him back to the bed without speaking or looking at him, and then left again. We're all glad that a half hour one day was all it took, and Ernie was duly praised and rewarded for the awesome nap he took.
Last night in the tub Ernie was putting Captain Penguin to sleep on the pirate ship: "And den he got up, and went to get his farm book, and grabbed the big farm book and walk it back to da bed, and he heared his daddy coming [enter First Mate Elephant] 'Let's walk da book back to the shelf, and get back in da bed.' and Capting Penguin did go to sweep."
It was the adorables. Jeremy said he never spoke, so Ernie apparently inserted the dialogue to keep the pirate version insteresting.

FYI: Coming back "every time Ernie got out of the bed" literally meant putting him down and walking out of the room and shutting the door, then turning around going back in and repeating. Sometimes he was considerate enough to not even wait until I left the room before he got up.
That is awesome. Too bad it isn't on tape! Waiting to see a post on the little girl...will the blog title change?
Dad knows best, and Ernie knows it too- obviously.
